Satisfying Vacation!!

I went to Hanoi,Vietnam on August 8 to August 13. Why Hanoi? I guessed it was something different as compared to Ho Chi Minh City in terms of the people, culture and the environment. I felt that Hanoi is the suitable when I was deciding on it. As I went for 6 days, I will divide it into two parts so it wont be so long winded and boring to read. So let's start!!

Day One:

Arrived at Hanoi around 1pm (Local Time). Everything went well until the luggage collection point, where my luggage could not be found. I was devastated! I am so angry that point of time as it is my first time experiencing this. I made report at the Vietnam Loss and Found counter while emailing to the Malaysia Airlines and contacting my travel insurance company. Nevertheless, everything went well after that even I have no choice but to check in to my apartment.

I called my host and informed her about what happened. Luckily for me, I am very fortunate that she is a nice host and helped me out as much as she can. Not to waste any time, I went to the apartment, washed up and proceed to buy some food and amenities for the night. Thanks to the Mai's husband who brought me to the nearest warehouse to buy cheap clothing.

As I was a bit reluctant to spend my money on this, I have no choice to buy some clothes and undergarments just in case if my luggage is not able to retrieve back. Proceed back to the apartment to eat my dinner and chatted with Mai and her husband, even they spoke a bit of English, I tried my best to converse with them using simpler English. Time to wash up and sleep.

Day Two:

Woke up early but I am feeling a bit groggy as I felt that I need to do something in order to retrieve my luggage but I decided to wait till afternoon if there is any news about it. I went out to the Hoan Kiem Lake, where it is a tourist spot and how we can find cheap bargain there. To feel like a local, I took a bus near the apartment while the journey is about 30 mins. Let me explain how complicated the bus stop are where the bus stop is not visible but only have a bus pole to indicate it is a bus stop. I was taken back and I guess it will take time for them to upgrade their bus system. Paid 7000 dong which equivalent to SGD 0.42 for a single trip to the city area.

Reached the place around 11 am and went to drink Iced Vietnamese Coffee as I am feeling uncomfortable as the weather there is super hot, even the temperature is difference by 1 degree as compared to Singapore. The coffee that I drank is super nice and loving it. Proceed to Temple of the Jade Mountain, paid 30,000 dong (SGD 1.82). Just to elaborate a bit about the history of it, which they dedicated this place for Confucian, Taoist and national hero,Tran Hung Dao. Not only that, there is a preserved tortoise situated at the temple.

After exploring the temple and the surrounding, this is time for me to have my lunch. Oh well, before going to Hanoi, I jotted down the halal food available so my first lunch was at Khazaana Indian Restaurant. I ate Murgh Biryani. The biryani is so fulfilling and I can't even finish it as I received a text from Mai that my luggage just arrived at Noi Bai International Airport. How overjoyed I am and I was relieved that I quickly proceeded back to the apartment to wait for my luggage to be delivered.

Washed up and the luggage arrived finally. Another thing made me angry was that my luggage was damaged, the wheel and the handlebar was broken. I just can't take it anymore so I decided to email the Malaysia Airlines, but up till now they never responded. Very bad service they had and I regretted taking the airlines,no more of taking the airline anymore. Lucky for me, I felt relieved that I got my luggage and the content in it is not damaged.

As to feel to not think about it, I decided to go to Lotte World Shopping Mall as I knew that there is a sky walk at level 65. Took bus there and reached there about 15 mins. Once again, the mall is just like Singapore but the price is slightly cheaper by only 10%. So I just proceed to the Obversation Deck, to see the fact that it was only 6 pm (Local Time), it was night time. Reached level 65 and I am amazed with the surrounding and looking outside the glass, Hanoi was so beautiful and I felt so calm upon looking at it. Decided to take a picture of me sitting down on the transparent floor, at first I was very scared but I braved myself to do just take it as part of my memories in Hanoi.

The price for the picture was 80,000 dong (SGD 4.85). Loving it and off to my apartment but before that, bought some bread from the Lotte Shopping Center as I was super hungry. Took a cab back to my apartment as I was tired. Reached my apartment and decided to talk to my host while explaining everything about my luggage. They told me that they felt relieved for me but shocked that the damages was unexpected and recommended me to a cheap luggage. Night out for Day 2, washed up and went to sleep! What a long day for me!

Day Three:

Woke up and I am ready to go to the Museum! I want to learn more about their culture and history even though people said it might be boring thing to do!! Oh well, I remembered I visited five museum around Hanoi which are Ho Chi Minh Museum, Hoa Lo Prison, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, National Museum of Vietnamese History, Army Museum, I was amazed with all the rich culture they have in the past and how they fought to win the war. Nevertheless, everything went well for the day.

After venturing out to the museum, I decided to eat my late lunch. My lunch was at the Red River Tea Room which was halal and I have a sumptuous set meal. Rating will be 8 out of 10. The place is situated at the West Lake, Tay Ho! Do check it out!

To end my day off, I decided to go back to Hoan Kiem Lake to experience the night life and it is where life begins at night!! Such a beautiful sight at night especially the colourful light near the lake!! I felt that as if I am at cloud nine!! Haha!!

Just browsing around to see what the Hanoi have to offer and decided to chill at the nearby cafe called Coffee and Chill Station. The ambiance is relax and I am loving it. Spent like half an hour to plan for my next place to visit while chatting with one of the staff there. They have limited command of English but I am trying my best to say simple English so they will understand. After proceed to walk around before proceeded back to my apartment. Took Grab Car as it is much more affordable and I am tired of walking around the city area. Reached my apartment to have my dinner with Mai and her husband. Time to sleep for Day Four.

That will be part one of my Hanoi Trip,
Do stay tuned next Thursday for my part two of my Hanoi Trip. Enjoy the weekends!!
